As summer break comes to an end and the new school year pokes its head around the corner, we can’t help but wonder how that will look for many of our San Antonio families.  Are there any traditions that you have each year with your child(ren) that signify the start of a new school year? Do you get them excited by telling them how they will finally get to see someone they didn’t have a chance to see during their summer break? Do you get them excited about meeting their new teachers, classmates, and classrooms? This year may look a little bit different for everyone. Whether you have made the choice to do virtual learning, decided to try the homeschool route, decided to join a “learning pod” with another family, or have made the tough decision to go back to in person learning, one thing remains the same, kids have to continue to learn. The team at SA Social Calendar knows this can create stress on families and has put together some online resources that may be of help to navigate you to a more successful start to this uncertain school year.

You may be asking yourself, what is a learning pod? A “learning pod” is when two or more families pool their resources to hire an instructor and take turns hosting small groups of students to follow the school district’s learning plan at home. Reach out to families you trust that live nearby to see if this would be something, they would be interested in trying.

Looking for homeschooling options such as a private tutor? We searched for a few organizations that have adapted with Covid-19.

Beyondedu.com has homeschooling services which allow experienced instructors to come to your home to teach homeschool curriculum through individualized instruction, while making sure students are on track for academic milestones. Their mentors make sure to keep documentation of student progress, assignments and deadlines to help your student stay focused and inspired.

TutorDoctor.com is another great resource if you’re on the northwest side of SA. Tutor Doctor provides tutoring services to students of all ages, levels and subjects. They come to your home,
at a convenient time for you to help you or your child to fill in the gaps in his or her knowledge base.
