Summer Camps

School’s out for summer! School’s out forever (it may be feeling that way) School’s been blown to pieces… with this pandemic we are all feeling a little nervous about sending children to summer camps. The kids have been home more than usual and by now everyone is starting to feel cramped at home. The team at SA Social Calendar has put together a list of some organizations that will still be offering summer camps this year.

The DoSeum – The DoSeum has elected to offer fewer summer camps each week with a decreased capacity of campers, in compliance with CDC and state recommendations. Please note, some camp week topics have been adjusted to avoid water & sand play and promote the best educational experience.

The Witte – After careful consideration, The Witte has decided to temporarily suspend in-person camps, at least through June, and instead bring Witte Summer Camp to you in an entirely new and exciting way!  Each camper will receive a Witte Box of Wonders, consisting of all of the needed supplies to participate in the various activities and experiments offered that week, as well as some Witte Museum swag! Each day there will be multiple opportunities to virtually connect with The Witte Museum Camp team members, bringing you the exciting content campers know and love.

ArtWorks – Summer camps are a great way for children to fully immerse themselves in their projects. Each child is given plenty of time to craft their masterpieces, and there is an Art Show at the end of each camp week to showcase our students’ hard work! Each week the limit for participants is 10 students.

San Antonio Zoo – Get ready for a wild summer! Week-long summer camp themes will appeal to your child’s passion for wildlife and nature. All camp themes include up-close encounters, zoo tours, themed activities, fun games and art projects, all set in a nature-based play environment. Camp weeks number 5 through 12 will go on as planned with our safety guidelines in place. The zoo is also working on a new camp experience that will allow them to bring camp to your home! They are hopeful that that will be online and open for more information and registration soon as well.

The Little Gym – Day camp at The Little Gym of Alamo Heights gives your kid the summer camp experience without the bug bites, poison ivy and week-long commitments. Combining fun physical activity, games, and arts & crafts, we’ll help your child beat the summer heat by staying cool at The Little Gym.  Our fantastic camps in Alamo Heights are also available during some other school breaks! Camps will be starting the week of June 15th

Olympia Gymnastics – Summer camps at Olympia Gymnastics are still planned to start the first week of June 2020. They will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with our local and state authorities. If anything should change on the dates of their summer camps, they will update all of the parents immediately. Due to limited capacity and the entering and exiting of students safely, only FULL DAY camps will be available at this time.

Summer at Heights – Summer at Heights is now enrolling for Summer 2020. This year, due to COVID-19, they will be offering half-day classes July 6th – July 31st. They will be following local, state, and CDC safety recommendations. As a result, small classes of less than 10 participants plus a teacher will be created.  Health measures such as temperature checks, frequent hand washing, wearing of masks, and social distancing will be used as necessary, given specific health recommendations in July. Morning sessions are 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. and afternoon sessions are 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Click here for sessions available.

Aerial Athletics – Kids will enjoy learning gymnastics, playing games, and participating in team-building and problem-solving activities all built around fun. Children 4 years old  (fully potty-trained) to 12 years old are welcome. Each week has a theme and all our activities are built around this fun theme. They are only offering half-day instructions (9AM to 12PM and 1PM to 4PM) for the first few weeks of June.

As we continue to hear back from organizations, we will keep adding to this list. If you know of a business that is hosting summer camps and would like for us to add it please email us and make sure you keep coming back for more!
